DIEZ to Provide Access to Venture Capital Networks, Investor Connections, and Comprehensive Support for Promising Proptech Companies
The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and the Dubai Land Department (DLD) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at fostering the growth and innovation of the property technology (Proptech) sector in Dubai. This collaboration is designed to enhance research, development, and technological advancements while simplifying the ease of doing business in the emirate. Together, DIEZ and DLD will support emerging startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and innovative companies within the Proptech industry.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, and His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Land Department, at Dubai Silicon Oasis, a leading special economic zone for knowledge and innovation under DIEZ.
Key Areas of Collaboration
The partnership focuses on several critical initiatives, including the design and implementation of joint programs in real estate technology. These programs will promote the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, within startups and SMEs. The collaboration will also prioritize providing resources and support to early-stage companies, helping them scale and thrive in Dubai’s dynamic business environment.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni emphasized, “DIEZ is committed to strengthening Dubai’s global standing as a hub for technology entrepreneurs and SMEs. By supporting the growth of innovative businesses, we aim to contribute to the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to double the size of Dubai’s economy and position it among the top three global cities by 2033.”
Comprehensive Support for Businesses
As part of this partnership, DIEZ will offer a range of services to Proptech companies, including streamlined business licensing, visa assistance, and access to flexible office spaces at the Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus. This initiative, part of Dubai Silicon Oasis, is the largest co-working space of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Additionally, DIEZ will provide administrative and legal support, host industry-specific events and workshops, and facilitate access to venture capital networks and investors. Through Oraseya Capital, its investment arm, DIEZ will offer funding opportunities for startups from the pre-seed stage up to the second round of financing.
Driving Innovation in Real Estate
His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita stated, “This partnership aligns with our Real Estate Evolution Space (REES) initiative, which aims to create a conducive environment for adopting modern technologies like AI and blockchain in the real estate sector. By supporting the establishment and expansion of innovative companies, we are advancing the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and positioning Dubai as a global hub for real estate innovation.”
The Dubai Land Department will play a key role in designing and implementing quality programs, encouraging the use of advanced technologies, and facilitating access to new markets. The department will also introduce interactive platforms, strengthen partnerships with educational institutions, and provide training and mentorship opportunities to nurture talent in the Proptech sector.
Aligning with Dubai’s Vision for Innovation
This collaboration is in line with the Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Grant Initiative, launched in September 2024. Under the Cognitive Cities priority sector, the initiative will focus on advancing Proptech, smart mobility, traffic management, and smart grids, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a leader in innovation and technology.
By combining their expertise and resources, DIEZ and Dubai Land Department aim to create a robust ecosystem that supports the growth of the Proptech sector, drives economic diversification, and enhances Dubai’s reputation as a global destination for innovation and investment.
